It’s essential that you replace your transmission fluid on a regular basis in order to keep your gears protected and lengthen the life of your transmission system. It’s recommended that you have a transmission fluid flush completed every 30,000 miles, as the fluid gradually loses its effectiveness over time. Changing your fluid routinely will lengthen the life of the transmission and protect against larger repairs.
During a routine transmission flush:
- We raise your vehicle and locate the two transmission oil cooler lines.
- The lower transmission oil cooler line is disconnected where it enters the radiator and the fluid is drained.
- We then pull the transmission dipstick out of the fill tube and replace the now-drained fluid with new, clean fluid.
- Once the old fluid has been fully drained and the clean fluid is in, we then reconnect the transmission oil cooler line and start the engine to check for leaks.
- We inspect your old oil to look for signs of trouble and assess what condition your transmission system is in.
- We will replace your filters and gaskets, if needed, as a preventative maintenance procedure to extend the life of your transmission.
